  • Advertising texts are not very suitable for translation with a Translation Memory system as the translator is strictly limited to the source text (every segment in the source text needs a corresponding one in the target text, which makes creative writing more difficult).
  • Source texts which are manually formatted without the use of style sheets often contain elements which make building a good translation memory database more difficult. Here in particular, hard word wraps which split a segment should be avoided. In a case like this, the text fragments split by the word wrap are saved in the database and not the entire coherent unit. It is then not possible to reuse a translation of this kind. The same sort of caution needs to be applied to using tabs. For example, where possible, tables should not be created using tabs, but by using the table function.
